Megan Fowke

Senior Associate

Megan joined Gilshenan & Luton as a Senior Associate in 2025. She has extensive advocacy experience in criminal law, from Magistrates Court sentences, bail applications and applications to cross-examine to Childrens, District and Supreme Court hearings, sentences, and trials.

Megan is a member of the Women Lawyers Association of Queensland (WLAQ). She also holds a Master of Laws in International Law from the Australian National University.

Megan was admitted as a legal practitioner to the Supreme Court of Queensland in July 2012.

Prior to her admission, she joined the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) and spent nine years holding various positions, developing her skills as a legal officer and later, as a Crown Prosecutor in the adversarial environment of serious criminal prosecutions.

In 2020, Megan began working in the Strategic Policy and Legislation branch of the Department of Justice as a Principal Legal Officer. In this role, she provided advice to the Attorney-General, the Director-General, and other Government agencies in relation to criminal law reform and issues impacting the criminal law generally. Megan has also appeared on behalf of the Department of Justice in Parliamentary Committee hearings on legislative reforms.

Immediately prior to joining Gilshenan & Luton, Megan worked in the legal services branch of the Department of Youth Justice and Victim Support in the areas of administrative law and coronial matters.

Megan is married with two young children. Outside of work, her interests include reading, pilates and spending time with her family and their miniature groodle, Ruby.
